Religious grants are financial aids provided for the development of a particular religious group or community. There are also foundations that offer funds to promote inter-religious harmony. In the US there are several private philanthropic organizations and foundations that offer Christian grants for the promotion of Christian community. These fund suppliers sponsor specific religious goals like evangelism, pastor education, church building and many more.

The objectives of religious grants suppliers may vary. There are several aspects that they can cover. However, they can either promote one specific goal or several goals simultaneously depending upon their mission and financial capacity. Some of the areas that are generally covered by some of the Christian grants are enumerated below:

  1. Strengthening and enriching the religious lives of Christians, primarily through strengthening their churches,
  2. Supporting the education and recruitment of a new generation of able ministers and other religious leaders,
  3. Encouraging theological reflection and religious practices that promote wisdom of Christian tradition, so as to meet the demands of contemporary situation,
  4. Supporting scholars and educators who want to understand contemporary religion and its role in public and personal lives,
  5. Supporting activities that make contributions to religious ideas, practices and values which are in the interest of the entire community.

There are private foundations that also offer religious grants to sponsor community based hunger relief programs for the poorer and deprived section. The main objectives of these grant programs are to provide food for the hungry and to encourage congregations to build as well as strengthen community relationships.
There are also some faith-based grants funded by government. These grants aim to offer funds to serve the poor and at-risk population. Respective religious organizations can apply for federal and state money to help their community cope with the nutritional, housing, health and educational needs.
