Canadian small business grants are not many and quite difficult to avail. The government has made provisions for some grants but they are meant for people engaged in a particular industry and located in a specific geographic part of Canada. The intention is to make these people economically stable. There are not many private agencies which give grants. In fact, the government is more interested in giving soft loans where the onus is also on the entrepreneur to pay back the money albeit at a more appealing rate of interest. The contribution may also be shared in some cases.

Examples of Canadian small business grants for specific people and places include Grants to small business program Northwest Territories and Establishment grant for aspiring farmers in Quebec. For the former, the business should show sales below $500,000 and a maximum grant of $5000 is awarded to the entrepreneurs. In case of the latter grant, farmers aged between 18 and 40 and residing in Quebec can avail this grant to invest in agriculture. The more trained a farmer is in agricultural techniques, the more grant will he be given. Farmers residing in other parts of Canada are not eligible for this loan.

There are particular industries which will be given Canadian small business grants. One of them is Book publishing industry development program. This grant can be availed if you are interested to preserve the Canadian culture and support the Canadian authors in writing and selling books promoting the diversity of Canada. Another type of grant is The Canada Music fund. The recording industry can receive an impetus from this grant. Several programs are there which are designed to help music entrepreneurs to become economically independent. There are several other Canadian small business grants which are mainly intended to help Canada improve its economy and become a more developed nation.
